Building Connection From the Ground Up

At Ozsome Horsemanship, I believe the foundation of every great partnership with a horse begins on the ground. My work isn’t about teaching riding skills — it’s about strengthening the relationship between you and your horse so that trust, clarity, and calm become second nature.

Whether you’re just starting your journey with a new horse, working through challenges, or simply wanting a deeper connection, I’ll guide you through practical groundwork techniques and mindset tools that make a difference.

What Does ā€œOZSOMEā€ Mean?

The word OZSOME grew out of my own journey with my horse, Ozzy. After we navigated and got through the “not-so-nice” time of our relationship, I started to reflect on what I did to change. Step by step, I began noticing patterns — and over time, those steps became the framework I now call OZSOME.

Observe

Once see it, you can’t unsee it.

Learning to notice subtle changes in your horse is the first step toward real communication.

Zen

Slow equals fast.

Slow is smooth, smooth is fast, therefore slow equals fast. Calm presence creates trust and clear progress.

Skills

Convincing a 1,000lb animal to move requires skills.

Success is in your hands — and in how you show up.

Opportunities

ā€œTiming & Feel.ā€

Every interaction is a chance to create responsiveness without expectation.

Model

Lead the way.

Be the change you wish to see in your horse.

Evolve

Is it better or worse?

Growth comes from reflecting on progress, adapting, and celebrating every small step forward.

What We Focus On

  • Groundwork foundations: leading, yielding, boundaries, and mutual respect
  • Connection practices: calm energy, body language, clear signals and consent
  • Problem-solving on the ground: handling challenges with patience and safety
  • Confidence building: for both horse and human

Note: I do not offer riding instruction — my focus is entirely on groundwork and the relationship side of horsemanship.
